It is tightened against the top cap. Use a 19mm  wrench on the locknut and your preferred tool on the top cap and loosen them both, breaking them free of each other.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eRemove the top cap and locknut.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eInsert the new spring, followed by the washer.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThread locknut fully onto fork shaft, followed by top cap.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eTighten top cap and locknut against each other firmly. It does not need to be super tight.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThread top cap into fork. Tighten firmly, but again, not super tight. This is an aluminum nut and will strip if over torqued.
